Our Mission
We believe that discipleship is central to Christ's message of the Good News of the Kingdom of God. Reclaiming what it means to be Christ-followers, by implementing the principles and practices He taught us, will bring about lasting life-change and spiritual offspring. DEM seeks to educate, inspire, equip, and train everyday followers of Christ to adhere to the will and ways of God our Father, thus becoming more like Christ in our inner person and outer practice.

TRANSFORMATIVE STATEMENTS

When Attempted and Lived Out

Are there Biblically based comments that you make in any kind of consistent way? I choose to be intentional about the informative statements I say to people as I go about my day. Many times, in a given month, I will repeat these — or maybe an abbreviated form of these — to people as conversations arise. In many cases they flow out of conversations I am having with people, so they are completely natural.

I’m encouraging you to write down your own statements, and if you can support them with Scripture, all the better. When I’m commenting to people who are outside the Faith, I very seldom actually quote the Scripture verse, but I will say things like:

  • Well, the Bible explains, or
  • The Bible teaches, or
  • As a follower of Christ, I found this to be true.
  • After I make the comment, I will say, “This is an amazing Biblical insight.”

99% of the time, people are so responsive, and this leads to further dialogue.

I have chosen to write some Scriptural references below if you would like to look them up. Of course, there are many others that could be selected for each comment.

Please remember our Lord was incarnational.

[John 1:14 NIV] The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Primarily, Christ went to the people and engaged them. Let’s do the same.

Peruse these twenty comments below and focus on the ones that appealed to you, but please write your own. You will be pleasantly surprised at how many biblical comments are rooted in Scripture and are germane to you!

  1. If you are leading and no one is following, you are only taking a walk. Joshua 1:12-18
  2. Leaders do the right things; managers do things right. 2 Chronicles 34:33; Luke 16:8
  3. A healthy marriage has healthy conditions. Ephesians 5:22-33
  4. Living unconditionally is a fantasy. John 15:5, 7, 14
  5. A man’s morality is dictated by his theology/ideology. Psalm 14:1
  6. If we forget the past, we forfeit the present and fail to prepare for the future. Psalm 77:5
  7. For the institutional evangelical churches, far too many have the values of security and safety. Jeremiah 48:11-13
  8. Living in God’s will is dangerous. 2 Corinthians 12:23-29
  9. Living in God’s will makes you dangerous. Acts 24:24-25
  10. Obedience is an absolute necessity. John 5:2-3
  11. The Holy Spirit’s power is released when we obey. 1 Peter 1:22; Luke 4:36
  12. Grace is opposed to earning; it is not opposed to effort. 2 Corinthians 11:23
  13. Repetition is the mother of learning; I need my mother. Deuteronomy 6:6-9
  14. There are three types of atheists: an intellectual atheist, a moral atheist, and a practical atheist. Intellectual Atheist: Psalm 14:1. The Bible describes him as a fool (senseless). He must assume he has all the knowledge in the universe. Even Einstein said he had only 2% of the knowledge in the universe. Moral Atheist: Psalm 14:2. His morality shapes and dictates his ideology or theology. There are a vast number of moral atheists! Practical Atheist: Psalm 10:4. A person who simply does not consider, seek, or think about God. In all their thoughts there is no room for God. The Bible attributes this to pride, arrogance, and insolence.
  15. Most people are going to find heaven or miss heaven by 18 inches. Faith is more inclusive than cognitive belief. Faith is trust and must move from your head to your heart (our motives). James 2:19; Psalm 18:2 AMP
  16. The fear of the Lord is to hate evil. Psalm 97:10
  17. Seek after the Kingdom of God, which is the rule and reign of Christ in us and through us. a. Matthew 6:33 — Seek the Kingdom first. b. Luke 17:21 — The Kingdom is within us. c. Matthew 12 — The Kingdom expands into all areas of life, presenting Christ’s principles and commands through us. d. Luke 1:33 — The Kingdom is yet future, when He will literally rule on earth.
  18. In much of our culture, we have substituted intelligence for wisdom. This is a great mistake. Deuteronomy 1:13
  19. Grace is giving us what we do not deserve. Ephesians 2:8-9
  20. Mercy is not giving us what we deserve. Psalm 136:26
