Thanksgiving 2025

November 17, 2025Seth Ebel

Thanksgiving 2025

In an article I wrote on February 27, 2025, titled “Considering the Long Look,” I made the following important observation:

If someone asked me what I believed to be the greatest problem confronting America today, my answer would be this: the last two generations have largely failed to communicate to their children what it truly means to be an American.
This is why I have made it a priority to teach our grandchildren from the Founders’ Bible.

Below is a simple action you can take around your Thanksgiving dinner table. For the past four-plus years, I have asked our family members to read portions of the article in the Founders’ Bible titled “How Then Shall We Live?”—The Mayflower Voyage and Compact (pages 179–190).

Last year, however, I didn’t do it. And our oldest grandson, JJ, said to me, “Papa, I missed doing the article.” What was I doing? ☹️

The truth is—I was simply too lazy to make the effort. ☹️☹️

Now, of course, this article does not capture everything it means to be an American, but each time we read from the Founders’ Bible, it sparks substantive conversation. Our family is reminded, encouraged, and motivated to stay grounded in our American roots.

I encourage you to consider doing the same.

And if you don’t have a Founders’ Bible, it may be time to purchase one! It is one of the three types of Bibles I believe every follower of Christ ought to own.

Happy Thanksgiving!
