“But woe to you, scribes [paid secular-minded lawyers who gave legal counsel to the religious leaders] and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. For you neither enter yourselves nor allow those who would enter to go in.” – Matthew 23:13 ESV
“It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it.” – Upton Sinclair
Motive in ministry is essential. Jesus came proclaiming and exhibiting the Kingdom of God to any and all who would receive Him. The scribes and Pharisees were continually plagued with mixed motives. Today, let us advance God’s Kingdom with a pure and focused heart asking the Lord how we might sacrifice – not for ourselves – but for the good of others.
In Christ,
