The following is a continuation of my questions on the upcoming election in November, 2024. I have posed four more issues that I deem to be important based on a Biblical Total Truth Worldview (BTTW). Who do think will govern closest to the Scriptures?
A BTTW is the full-orbed Truth about total reality. The term means, a biblically informed perspective on all of life.
Below are two of many passages of Scripture, both in the OT (Book of the Covenants) and NT (The Renewed Covenant), which encapsulate a BTTW.
“So, remember this and keep it firmly in mind: The LORD is God both in heaven and on earth, and there is no other. 40 If you obey all the decrees and commands, I am giving you today, all will be well with you and your children. I am giving you these instructions so you will enjoy a long life in the land the LORD your God is giving you for all time.” – Deuteronomy 4:39-40 NLT
“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness.” – 2 Timothy 3:16 NASB
(If you are interested in worldviews look to my article: What are the Implications of Accepting a Worldview.
I converse with others every week about one or more of the subjects listed below. People are open to your opinion. Speak clearly, sensibly, respectfully, and factually and you’ll win favor with people and perhaps even enlighten them and you about how to vote!
I interject Scriptures that I think are germane to the subject as well as some comments from various sources. I encourage you take a few of my subjects, or your own, and add your Scriptures or comments. Become comfortable in articulating your biblical thoughts about these important issues and share them with others, including your Christian friends.
Whatever you do don’t sit on the sidelines!
I am posing questions for each of the issues that are important to me and how you think Biden or Trump will govern, assuming they will be the candidates. Please feel free to pass this article on to your family and others, including your pastor. Better yet write your own!
- Will he promote individuals, including the poor, to be responsible for their financial health and not create dependency on the state?
“If among you, one of your brothers should become poor, in any of your towns within your land that the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart or shut your hand against your poor brother, 8 but you shall open your hand to him and lend (loan) him sufficient for his need, whatever it may be.” – Deuteronomy 15:7-8 ESV
Note that what the Torah demands regarding the poor is loans, not charity. Loans achieve two monumental goals: They protect the dignity of the poor, and they prevent people from getting used to (and ultimately even addicted to) the benefits provided by the state. Before long there is a whole segment of society who expects and even demands the government (which is us the working, wealth generating taxpayer) to provide for their perceived needs.
“For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.” – 2 Thessalonians 3:10 NKJV
“Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” – 1 Timothy 5:8 NIV
There is no mention of the government providing for the poor in the Bible! Welfare is a political creation.
- Will he have the strength and courage to face the challenges in foreign and domestic affairs, including the strength to stand up to Marxists, global elites, oligarchs, bureaucratic leaders, and their ideologies?
“Be courageous! Let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. May the LORD’s will be done.” – 1 Chronicles 19:13 NLT
The Social Justice Movement (SJM), including Black Lives Matter, and Critical Race Theory, espouse that oppressed victims (blacks in particular) and their allies must unite in an intersectional (many factors of diversity like being both transgender and a woman at the same time) coalition to unmask, deconstruct, and ultimately, overthrow oppressive power structures (created by dominate white males). Often the social justice champions are seeking not a peaceful social transformation that begins inwardly with humble repentance and the regeneration of sinful hearts and minds. They desire, instead, revolution patterned after the French, Russian, and Chinese revolutions. (Look to my article, Understanding the Social Justice Movement.
-
- Will he address and legislate policies to restrict Critical Race Theory (CRT) in our schools?
The social justice ideologies are replete with anti-colonial activism to minimize American Nationalism. It is evident by their revolutionary riots, destruction of national statutes and private property, the call to abolish the police and the false accusations of systemic racism.
I have noticed that for many good Christian people who are rightly occupied with making a living, caring for their families, and contributing to society, these issues are not on their radar. However, as I am seeing more kids drift from the faith, and being aggressively indoctrinated, the true Christian community, and even moral non-professing Christian citizens are waking up and beginning to take measures to stand for righteousness. By equipping their children, and themselves, and beginning to take action to place themselves and their families in the best place spiritually and physically, these people are starting to make a difference. (Quoted from the same article above).
“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” – 1 John 4:1 NKJV
- Will he support law-enforcement generally, including state officers on the southern border?
“We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful…” – 1 Timothy 1:9 NIV
“When the Most High gave nations their inheritance (homes), when he divided all mankind, he set up boundaries for the peoples according to the number of the sons of Israel.” – Deuteronomy 32:8 NIV
Without borders there are no countries. Borders are vital to demarcate the sovereignty of individual countries, in which their culture and their form of government can thrive.
The united world God seeks is a world of nations united in acknowledging the one true God of the Bible and living by His moral code
(See Philippians 2:9-11)
This will not happen until the millennium (1,000-year reign of Christ on earth. See Rev. 20:1-6). However, I am choosing to do my part to keep our freedoms for our children and grandchildren. I am attempting to be like the productive servant in Luke 19:13 (KJV) who is “occupying” until his Master returns. Will you join me☺?
It is intriguing to recognize that nations will be present even into eternity with the New Heavens and the New Earth.
“The nations will walk by its light and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it.” – Revelation 21:24
“…And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.” – Revelation 22:2b
-
- Will he maintain a strong military defense?
Exodus 15:3 says that “The Lord, is the Warrior—” The Hebrew literally says, “the Lord is a man of war.” This strikes those moderns for whom war is by definition immoral as a morally primitive way of describing God. Many people are much more comfortable saying, “God is love.” But sometimes the only way to stop evil and increase love is through war. God must, therefore, be both love and a warrior. In this case, when the Israelites are fleeing heavily armed professional troops, God acts as a warrior on their behalf. That was the only thing that a God of love could do.
Many in modern Christendom today, celebrate a one-dimensional view of God, that is, He is a God of love. But the root concept of holiness is wholeness and that means that God’s attributes are multifaceted. It’s incomplete to only say that God is a God of love without describing other characteristics of His nature. God is a God of peace (Romans 15:33). He is a God of wrath (Colossians 3:6). He is a God of justice (Psalm 89:14). He is a God of kindness (Titus 3:4), God of hope (Romans 15:13), and a God of compassion (Psalm 86:15) to describe only some of His many attributes.
Think about this. Because of the United States Military, the US army, the Air Force, the Navy, and the Marines there has generally been a containment of evil and relative peace in the world. The US military has been instrumental in saving the free world. The American military stopped German domination in World War I, it stopped the Japanese and German fascism in the Second World War, it saved the world from communism in the Cold War. Our military is a deterrent now holding in check radical countries like Iran and Russia.
What will you do with this Information?
#1 If you are in a Bible Study, small group or other gathering, give my info out. People do less from what we expect and more from what we inspect.
#2 Discuss with one other person. You will be pleasantly surprised at what you will learn about each other, including yourself☺.
In Christ,
Dale
