Questions for the 2024 General Election
Part One
The following are questions that I am asking related to how you think the candidates will govern as President. I render my thoughts about each question based on my Biblical Total Truth Worldview.
I encourage you to vote for the party and candidates that espouse policies closest to biblical teaching. Please consider each party’s “platforms” above the candidates “personality.” The best for our nation is righteous actions based on good policies, not accommodating rhetoric.
Actions do speak louder than words.
“They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works.” – Titus 1:16 ESV
Why Lincoln selected Grant to lead the Union Army in the Civil War
Even though Grant struggled with alcoholism, have you ever wondered why Lincoln selected him to be the commander of the Union Army?
The simple answer: he knew Grant would fight. Grant wouldn’t back down from Lee no matter the circumstances.
A reminder for us who follow Christ is that we are not selecting a pastor!
I find myself in conversations weekly about one or more of the elements listed below. People are more open to your opinions than you realize. Speak clearly, sensibly, respectfully, and factually and you’ll win favor with people and, perhaps, even change some minds!
I am posing questions for each of the issues that are important to me and how you think Biden or Trump will act. Please feel free to pass this article on to others, including your pastor.
I interject Scriptures that I think are germane to the subject, as well as some comments from various sources. I encourage you take a few of my subjects and add your own Scriptures or comments. Become comfortable in articulating your biblical thoughts about these important issues and share them with others.
Whatever you do don’t sit on the sidelines!
I am probably too sensitive about the length of my articles, but please pick and choose what interests you. If you embrace and speak up about one or two, I will consider that a success for me and for you. I am breaking down these thoughts into three sets stretched over the next few weeks. Feedback from people on the playing field is welcome.
Assuming Biden or Trump will run, how do you think they will govern?
- Will he be pro-Israel, demonstrated in extended actions and support that protect the only democracy in the Middle East?
“And the Lord said to Abram…3 And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.” – Genesis 12:3 NASB
“Two thousand years later at the birth of Christ, God was still mindful of that promise. When eight-day-old Jesus was being dedicated at the temple, Zacharias,
“was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying, ‘Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for He has …remembered His holy covenant, the oath which He swore to Abraham our father’” – Luke 1:67-68, 72-73 NASV.
We should come to her defense for if there was ever a time that Israel needed the courage of her friends to stand by her side, it is now!” – David Barton, The Founders’ Bible, p 1751, 1753.
- Will he select constitutional Judges to the supreme court and the courts throughout the land?
“You shall not judge unfairly: you shall show no partiality; you shall not take bribes, for bribes blind the eyes of the discerning and upset the plea of the just.” – Deuteronomy 16:19 JPS Translation
“Judges are prohibited not only from favoring the rich and the powerful, but also from favoring the poor and weak (Exodus 23:3 and Leviticus 19:15), both of which would violate his command to judge fairly. The role of judges is to judge only the case before them; it is not to try to improve society through their judgement” [legislating from the bench; my comment]
– Dennis Prager p.270, Deuteronomy the Rational Bible.
“And you, Ezra, are to use the wisdom your God has given you to appoint magistrates and judges who know your God’s laws to govern all the people in the province west of the Euphrates River. Teach the law to anyone who does not know it.” – Ezra 7:25 NLT
- Will he listen to evangelical leaders?
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers.” – Psalm 1:1 ESV
“My son, pay attention to my wisdom; listen carefully to my wise counsel.” – Proverbs 5:1 NLT
“Most of us are completely unaware of how frequently in the Scriptures God sent His ministers to civic officials either to give them guidance on good policy or confront them about bad policy. They frequently partnered with them to provide sound guidance in constructing good policies.” – Founders Bible, p. 731.
- Will he vet all immigrants especially all illegal criminals? Does he support and enforce legal immigration?
The judgment of God upon Israel was evident when foreign conquerors, like Egypt, and Assyria, were able to walk through the gates of Jerusalem to conquer. Usually, the judgment of God starts with simply letting man implode from his own actions. Yikes!
“Not a king in all the earth–no one in all the world–would have believed that an enemy could march through the gates of Jerusalem.” – Lamentations 4:12 NLT
If the current trends hold under the Biden Administration, the number of illegals will reach ten million by January 2025. Since Inauguration Day, 2021, there has never been the current conveyor-belt policy to distribute millions throughout the American interior. This crisis is not the result of incompetence but purposeful policies.
In the final year of the Trump administration the apprehensions per day were between 800-1,500. Four months into the Biden administration there is a daily average of 6,000. Entering 2024, the apprehensions were up to 12,000-15,000 a day.
Who are these illegals? They are internationally diverse: 45% come from 170 countries outside the traditional origin countries of Mexico and Central America. Many are on the FBI’s terrorist watch list. Many are murderers, rapists, kidnappers, and violent criminals. (Taken from Todd Besman writing in the Imprimis Magazine from Hillsdale College, January 2024).
- Will he express open concern and outrage over persecution of Christians around the world? And will he take action to protect them?
“For some of the Jews killed the prophets, and some even killed the Lord Jesus. Now they have persecuted us, too. They fail to please God and work against all humanity 16 as they try to keep us from preaching the Good News of salvation to the Gentiles. By doing this, they continue to pile up their sins. But the anger of God has caught up with them at last.”
– 1 Thessalonians 2:15-16 NLT
“A Prayer of the Afflicted when he is faint and pours out his complaint before the LORD. Hear my prayer, O LORD! And let my cry for help come to You.” – Psalm 102:1 NASB95
Between the fall of 2021 and the fall of 2022, 5,621 Christians were killed,
4,542 were arrested and 5,259 were kidnapped. As many as 2,110 churches and church buildings were the target of violence. Around the world more than 360 million Christians were exposed to high levels of persecution and discrimination.
Christians in Pakistan face unthinkable atrocities for their faith, and the judicial system often ignores the facts and the law and caves into angry Muslim mobs. (Taken from three sources: ACLJ, Goggle, and Open Doors).
What can you do?
#1 This last week a gal informed me that while she was on a Christian cruise she passed out my 2016 election evaluations of Clinton and Trump.
Going on any cruises in the future☺?
#2 Pass this on to your children and ask them to offer their opinions. Follow up on what they read.
In Christ,
Dale
