One of the dangers of civilized faith is that we become so domesticated we begin to live as shrewd as the dove. In reality, we are to be like serpents who are attacked by many predators yet use creativity and wisdom to survive! Spurgeon said, “The Christian missionary will need to be wary, to avoid receiving harm; but he must be of a guileless mind, that he do no harm.” May the Lord help us live in this balance!
