“Bright Flash of light marks Incredible Moment Life Begins When Sperm Meets Egg,” – The Telegraph, April 26,2016
Please look up the above reference to the video. It is incredible!
“Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.” – Genesis 1:3 NASB
We first encounter God speaking in Genesis 1:3. As the Spirit of God moves (verse 2), so the Word of God speaks. This is the record of the second Person of the triunity of the Godhead speaking. What is the result?
Light!
The existence of visible light prior to the establishment of the sun, moon, and stars (Genesis 1:16) emphasizes the fact that light (energy) is more fundamental than the light givers, — sun, moon, and stars.
While in college, my Marxist philosophy and religion teachers would disparagingly question the veracity of the creation account because, according to Genesis 1:3, light existed before the sun and the stars. Since the sun and the stars were not created until day four, they claimed that the Bible was obviously in error and could not be trusted. When we understand that light consists of energy in its most fundamental state, a plausible explanation of the text is possible.
In the Henry Morris Study Bible, we read:
“Light is the energizing of the vast cosmos through the marvelous electromagnetic force system which maintain all structures and processes in matter. These varied energies include not only visible light, but also shortwave radiations (ultraviolet, x-rays, etc.) and long wave radiations (infrared, radio waves, etc.)” (Look to page 8).
Please consider purchasing this Bible as one of your foundational Bibles. If your children or grandchildren are scientifically minded, this Bible in particular will provide profound insights from the word of God. No other Bible will provide such information. Our oldest grandson, JJ, has read every note in this magnificent Bible.
The reference to God speaking (the Word) in Genesis 1:3 is the foundation for the connection to Jesus Christ (the Word) in John 1:1-5.
“1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him not even one thing came into being that has come into being. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of mankind. 5 And the Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not grasp it.” – John 1:1-5 NASV
The Greek word “logos” or “Word” means not only Word (verbal and written) but also reason, rationality, intelligence, and information. The ancient Stoics were Greek philosophers who taught that virtue, the highest good, is based on knowledge; and that the wise live in harmony with divine Reason and Providence. They used logos to mean the rational structure of the universe. Thus, the underlying structure of the universe reflects the expression of the Creator. Nothing has an independent autonomous identity, which separates the universe from the will or purposes of God. The Stoics weren’t completely right, but they did get some of it correctly. The Apostle Paul in Colossians 1 clarifies the role of the Son in creation.
“16 for through Him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see–such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through Him and for Him. 17 He existed before anything else, and He holds all creation together.” – Colossians 1:16,17 NLT
The association of the Lord Jesus Christ as the Word being the creator of life and His connection with light in John 1 is staggering! With every advance of science, it becomes more evident that to be pro-life is to be on the side of science and reason. Scientists recently discovered that when a sperm meets an egg, and explosion of tiny sparks erupts from the egg at the exact moment of conception. Scientist have even captured these astonishing fireworks on film.
Some doctors call this The God Glow, for it reveals a high likelihood that there will soon be the formation of a healthy baby.
Below I am quoting some of the article from the captions on the video
“For the first time ever, scientists have captured images of the flash of light that sparks at the very moment a human sperm cell makes contact with an egg.
The phenomenon has been observed in animals before, but no one’s ever seen the spark of human conception. And what’s even more incredible is the fact that some eggs burn brighter than others, which is a direct indication of their ability to develop into a healthy embryo, a team from Northwestern University found.
So why do sparks literally fly at the moment of conception? In 2011 a team at Northwestern discovered that sparks of zinc exploded at the point of conception in mice.
It took them a few years to figure out how to image this event, and in 2014 they’d managed to film the event for the first time ever and watched as billions of zinc atoms were released at the exact moment when a mammal’s egg is pierced by a sperm cell.
Using a new fluorescent sensor that’s able to track the movements of zinc in live cells, the team caught a glimpse of an egg’s zinc-storage capabilities, and found some 8,000 zinc compartments, each one containing around 1 million zinc atoms, just ripe for exploding. The tiny ‘fireworks’ that resulted were found to last for about 2 hours after fertilization.
Now, the same team has managed to film this event occurring in a human egg at the point of conception.
“We discovered the zinc spark just five years ago in the mouse, and to see the zinc radiate out in a burst from each human egg was breathtaking” said Teresa Woodruff, an American medical researcher in human reproduction and oncology, at Michigan State University.
To me what is so amazing about this discovery is that it confirms the truths recorded by the Apostle John, in John 1:4 “In Him was life, and the life was the Light of mankind.” God even shows up in the intricacies of His creation revealing light at the beginning of conception providing a scientific reality of His marvelous creation.
It is as if God is saying, “you cannot escape my light!” Actually, that is exactly what He is saying:
“7 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?… 11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” 12 even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.” – Psalm 139:7; 11-12 NIV
Oh my… we serve a mighty, omnipotent and omnipresent God!
Contrasting Light (God’s Moral Righteousness) with Darkness (Evil practices)
One of the most prominent and multifaceted metaphors in both the Old and New Testaments is that of light contrasted with darkness. John quickly transitions to the metaphor of light representing the person of Christ, to light being truth that accompanies Him when He enters a dark world. We live in an age reminiscent of the time of the prophet Isaiah, who said, “Beware, those who call evil good and good evil, who turn darkness into light and light into darkness, who turn bitter into sweet and sweet into bitter” – Isaiah 5:20.
Such reversals are intentional repudiations of all that is right about God and His ways. Into such cultural darkness, God wants to send His light. Light is a great metaphor for God’s answer to the darkness of spiritual blindness, wickedness, satanic power, and death.
One of the great “I AM” passages is in John chapter 8. We read: “When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.’” – John 8:12 NIV. By repenting of our sins (Matthew 4:17) and following the Lord Jesus Christ, (4:19) we become “the light of the world” (5:14). What does this mean to you?
Here are a few ways I have been attempting to be a Light for Christ. I generally wonder if this is really being a light for Christ, and, I generally feel it is not enough and I ought to be much more of an activist for righteousness and the for the Lord Jesus Christ.
• Almost daily when I am out and about at the grocery store, working out at the athletic facility, wine tasting, going to the doctor, working in the yard, or walking in the neighborhood, I consistently look for and take opportunities to identify myself with Christ, and exchange in meaningful conversations about spiritual matters. I am friendly, upbeat, and usually comment about some aspect of another person’s personality, character, yard, car, or their dog. One of the greatest challenges we face as Christians is that we only, talk to ourselves. I need to step it up a notch and become more intentional and braver with not-yet-believers.
“Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.” – Colossians 4:6 NKJV
• I have addressed the onslaught and infiltration of Critical Race Theory (CRT) invading our culture. I have done this by engaging my doctors, physical therapist, educators, neighbors, pastors, our dentist and even restaurant personal. I inform, clarify, and identify, specific aspects of the ideology contrasted with the Bible, in an informal, concise, and gracious manner. Of course, I always am asking open ended questions so that I might gain an insight into their inner being which then allows me to advance the conversation accordingly.
“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always [be] ready to [give] a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;” – 1 Peter 3:15 NKJV
• I have written over 275 articles addressing what I believe are topics of importance and germane to the current climate. My articles informing the Christian community about the Social Justice Movement and its false ideology will become more important as we see Social Justice Evangelical Churches come to grips with their own involvement in this heresy. “Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.” – Colossians 2:8 NKJV
• I am personally discipling two young men while embracing the challenge that discipleship is not simply the transference of information. I used to teach the masses, but now my ministry is much more obscure and off the radar, but I have always had a small number of men in my life who I am attempting to mentor and who sharpen me.
“And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” – 2 Timothy 2:2 NKJV
• I provide counsel to young and seasoned pastors facing the obstacles of overseeing their churches.
“As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.” – Proverbs 27:17 NKJV
• One of my mentors told me years ago, “Dale, if you consistently are ministering God’s Word, and are intentionally on mission to bring about His kingdom, you are a true follower of Jesus Christ and you are bearing fruit.
“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, if you continue in my word, then you are my disciples indeed;” – John 8:31 KJV
I find assurance in these verses in 1 Corinthians 3:5-6:
“5 After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us. 6 I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.” – 1 Corinthians 3:5-6
Please join with me and list three ways you are attempting to be a light for Jesus Christ.
