“But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” – 1 Timothy 5:8 ESV
“Do not blame Caesar, blame the people of Rome…when they acclaim and adore him, …when he speaks of the new, wonderful society,… which shall be Rome’s, interpreted to mean: more money, more ease, more security …at the expense of the industrious.” – Roman philosopher, Marcus Tullius Cicero
“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.” – Colossians 3:23 emphasis added
Since God is the keeper of your destiny, how wise is it to purify your motives and begin to work for an audience of One. This is, in essence, what Paul is communicating in the above verse (See also 1 Corinthians 10:31). Really stop and consider this verse. We are to willingly put forth our best effort in whatever God has laid before us, as if we we are working directly for Him. In fact, we are!
How would Christian culture, and society at large be different if we all heeded the admonition to work hard as unto the Lord?
In Christ,
