“Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine,” – Exodus 19:5
“God’s purpose has always been about redeeming a people. But the modern church has reduced it to the conversion of individuals. There is a radical difference between leading one person to faith and leading a people to Faith.” – Erwin McManus
A Holy Spirit movement is evident when there is exponential growth and societal impact. Examples would be Wesley’s revival, Third World Pentecostalism today, the churches in the book of Acts and the underground Chinese Church. In these instances, the transformative message of the Good News of the Kingdom of God is extended and received in all avenues of a society and not only at an individual level. It’s also interesting that these phenomenal “Jesus movements” typically begin on the fringes of society, among those who are more marginalized, or on the outskirts. What can we learn from this?
In Christ,
