“(12) Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. (13) … Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, (14) I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 3:12-14 NIV
Greg Ogden defines a disciple of Jesus as “a self-initiating, reproducing, fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ.” God is not looking for perfection but progress! How are you progressing as a disciple of Jesus this week? Paul sought to forget the past and press forward in the Spirit’s power. I guarantee that this week, Satan will try to stir up either regret over the past or anxiety for the future. Both are a trap! Jesus offers us present peace. Take hold of Jesus this week, knowing that He has you in the grip of His awesome hands. From THAT PLACE seek to live as His disciples in all you think, say, and do.
