Our Mission
We believe that discipleship is central to Christ's message of the Good News of the Kingdom of God. Reclaiming what it means to be Christ-followers, by implementing the principles and practices He taught us, will bring about lasting life-change and spiritual offspring. DEM seeks to educate, inspire, equip, and train everyday followers of Christ to adhere to the will and ways of God our Father, thus becoming more like Christ in our inner person and outer practice.

Christmas 2021 Greetings to our Friends!

As we celebrate Christmas this year it is significant to emphasize one of the reasons our Lord Jesus Christ was born—to testify to the Truth! “Jesus responded, “You say I am a king. Actually, I was born and came into the world to testify to the Truth. All who love the Truth recognize that what I say is true.” John 18:37 NLT

In the last two years most of us have been surprised at what has transpired in our country and in the world. The Covid spread, related premature deaths, civil disturbances, mask mandates, quarantining, Zoom meetings, and some evangelical churches going “woke.” It has been an eye-opener, disconcerting, and a spiritual wake-up call all at the same time.

I am reminded of what the Apostle Paul wrote to the young pastor, Timothy, “You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times.” 2 Timothy 3:1 NLT    “… while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of.” 2 Timothy 3:13, 14.  “Entrust these (truths) to faithful people who will be able to teach others also.” 2 Timothy 2:2 NASV

THIS IS OUR MINISTRY’S PURPOSE!

Psalm 145:4, “One generation shall praise your works to another.”

I am discipling a 25-year-old young man, Michael, at left, who has recently become a new follower of Jesus Christ, through his mother, Diane, who attends one of Linda’s studies. Michael is an inquisitive and courageous learner.

A West Linn High School student, our very articulate neighbor Chaim, and I, at right, are meeting to interact together regarding Scripture, articles from the Founders’ Bible, and his ideological challenges in school.

Our grandson, Brock, in photo on back, and I engage in lengthy dialogue over a variety of Christian books and Scriptures that are germane to the times in which we are living. We have very rich, substantiative, and meaningful discussions. We love talking with many of our grands about Biblical matters of spiritual and practical significance.

2 Timothy 2:15 KJV, “Study to show yourself approved to God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth.”
1 Timothy 4:1 NLT, “Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some
will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons.”

We connect with a young family in our neighborhood that is attempting to make a difference. The father was asked to be on the district’s curriculum committee after expressing concerns about some of the required literature reading.

I was asked by another family in our community to evaluate a book on social justice that their high school daughter was asked to read, Stamped, Racism, Antiracism and You, by Reynolds and Kendi. Other neighbor parents joined in on the request, so I sent my evaluation to them and to a member of the West Linn School Board.

I led a workshop for 60 people on the Social Justice Movement at Eastridge Church.

I would never have imagined five years ago that I would be teaching and explaining Scripture regarding the increase of false teachers and heresies in the Church and the broader culture. However, this has become reality, encapsulated in the Social Justice Movement and the expansiveness of Critical Race Theory. I have been addressing this neo-Marxist movement in the last year in earnest.

“I will study Your commandments and reflect on Your ways.”  Psalm 119:15 NLT

ou are an amazing teacher and I love listening to you and learning from you. I just can’t thank you enough for your kindness and dedication to spreading God’s Word! You are making a huge difference!
Marijean
I am thinking about the two Bible studies that you taught this year! I want to say a huge thank you for the topics and the way you presented them. It was so special to be with you and see and hear you teach with so much knowledge and wisdom! It really put things together and clarified some very important things about angels and prophecy that weren’t clear, and I didn’t know, so it was very exciting. We love and appreciate you even more so for your continued faithfulness! So again, thank you for sharing yourself and your gifts with us all!

Your insight relating current events to the things Jesus taught helps me. I'm sure everyone hearing, believer or not, would benefit from your teachings and the discussions we've had. I think there's a book in there!
Mike
I get to spend time every Tuesday morning with Godly men whom I respect and get to learn from.
Pat
I really value our different backgrounds, points of view and the Godly insights we hear from each other.
Steve
Thank you for all the in-depth research that you have put into the subjects of the Social Justice Movement. I have learned that the basis for these ideologies is not rooted in Scripture but rooted in lies. You have given us a Biblical Worldview on these subjects and more … God’s heart on these matters.

FAMILY UPDATE:

Photo is with the seven grands who could be with us for Thanksgiving. Seth’s family joined us from California. Left to right: Rowen, Max and Selah McNown, Dale and I, Isla Ebel, Brock and JJ McNown, and Jude Ebel. Brandon and Sarah did not join us as they had Covid. Seth and Vanessa had it earlier in the year. All are doing well now.

Brandon and Sarah’s family: Brandon continues running his record labels, BEC Recordings, Tooth and Nail Records, and Solid State, as well as doing some real estate development in Seattle. His BEC Artist, Tasha Layton, just hit Billboard #1 in Christian Airplay for her song, “Look What You’ve Done.”  Sarah has spent this year writing her 11th novel, With Love from London, which is to be released February 8! Their family of eight moved into a home they built and have enjoyed the extra space. Josiah, 16, a junior, Evie, 15, a sophomore, and Petra, 13, in 8th grade, attend King’s Christian School in Seattle.  All three went with their mom on a safari in Kenya during Thanksgiving week.  Our dear bonus grands, Sarah’s kids, are doing very well. Russ recuperated from a bad tibia/fibula break a year ago. Carson, 15, is a freshman, Russell, 13, is in 8th grade, and Colby, 10, is in 5th

Jeff and Heather’s family: Jeff McNown is enjoying his chiropractic practice in Portland and has become a gourmet chef, preparing two of our dinners during Thanksgiving week. Heather enjoys being a realtor has spent a lot of time for three years in doctors’ appointments with Brock. JJ, 26, is halfway through Willamette University College of Law and studies a lot!  Brock, 22, is going to have a PET scan later in December.  We are praying his Hodgkins Lymphoma is gone!  Thank you so much for your prayers for healing for Brock. Max, 20, is a shift manager at Starbucks, moving to our local Salamo Starbucks in February, and is attending online Arizona State University, majoring in business.  Rowen, 18, is a senior at Lake Oswego High School and just finished football season and is considering colleges. Selah, 15, is a freshman at West Linn High School and has a great group of friends who also follow Jesus Christ.

Seth and Vanessa’s family: Jude, 14, 8th grade, had his 7th and 8th brain surgeries at Stanford in August. The surgeries from 2020 and these recent ones have given him more clarity in thinking, reading, vocabulary and conversation. Jude was born with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex.  Isla, 12, sixth grade, is very capable and diligent. She did an amazing art project with me for her school! Isla quoted the whole Shema for us from Deuteronomy 6!  They attend a Christian School. Seth is continuing to enjoy being Community Life Pastor at The Shoreline Church of San Clemente and sells real estate occasionally. Vanessa spends time caring for her family and being Jude’s advocate.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, 2022!

In Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior,
Dale and Linda
